1958 Chevrolet Yeoman 2-Door Wagon – Rare One-Year Survivor

Chevrolet introduced the Yeoman for just a single model year in 1958, making it one of the rarer wagons in the brand’s history. Positioned as the entry-level station wagon, the Yeoman carried minimal trim and fewer options compared to the more upscale Brookwood and Nomad models. It was offered in both two-door and four-door versions, but the two-door was by far the rarest, with only 16,590 produced. For buyers in the late ’50s, it was a practical choice meant for utility, but today its scarcity and simplicity make it an appealing find for collectors and enthusiasts.

This particular Yeoman represents that rarity well. It was part of a full frame-off restoration project undertaken by the seller’s father, with every nut, bolt, and piece carefully disassembled, cleaned, painted, and rebuilt. Unfortunately, the work paused due to health issues, leaving the car in a nearly finished but incomplete state.

Exterior

The wagon presents as a rolling shell that has seen a tremendous amount of work already completed. The frame-off effort means the undercarriage and body structure have been carefully attended to, a huge advantage compared to most unrestored survivors. Being a two-door model, its profile carries a unique look that separates it from the more common four-door wagons of the time.

Interior

The interior remains unfinished, awaiting seats, trim, and final assembly. This gives the next owner an opportunity to finish the car in their own vision—restored to factory stock for originality, or customized with modern touches for a resto-mod personality.

Mechanical

Under the hood sits a freshly rebuilt 348 V8, topped with a triple two-barrel carburetor setup (3×2). This wasn’t standard fare for the Yeoman, making it a welcome upgrade for both performance and curb appeal. The drivetrain is installed and ready for the next owner to bring it to life, with the hard work of the rebuild already behind it.

The 1958 Chevrolet Yeoman 2-door wagon is already a rare sight, and examples that have undergone the majority of a frame-off restoration are even harder to come by. With its rebuilt 348 V8 and unique two-door body style, this project stands out as an opportunity to complete a car that blends historical rarity with performance potential. For enthusiasts who enjoy finishing what someone else started, this Yeoman is a rare gem waiting for the right set of hands.

Seller’s Description

This awesome 2 door station wagon is part of my fathers estate. My father was in the process of restoring this 1958 two door YOEMAN wagon (not a Nomad) when his health took a turn for the worst. Unfortunately he never finished this project. The only thing left to do is to have interior put in the car. My father did a complete frame off restoration where every nut and bolt was taken apart, cleaned, painted and rebuilt. The car has a freshly rebuilt 348 with 3×2 intake and carbs. The car has factory power steering with the slave cylinder. Front power disc brakes with aftermarket master cylinder and power booster. Aftermarket Air conditioning. It has a TH350 transmission. Stock 1958 rearend with correct P housing posi center carrier. Driving the car feels like it has 4:11 gears in the rear end. The motor turns about 3000 rpm at 60 mph. Car has digital gauges. Front and rear seats are complete. The old interior that was in the car when my father purchased it is included. All new glass, weather strips and window felts. Re-chromed bumpers, all exterior stainless was restored and polished. This car had been in storage for about 4 years. After my fathers passing we pulled the car out of storage. The car was trailer to a mechanic shop (The roads were wet and trailered on an open trailer, That is why the pictures of the undercarriage show water spots and dirt). It would not take much to wipe down the under carriage to make it 100%. Fresh gas was put in the tank, new battery, and brakes bled. The car runs and drives great. I just drove it 50 miles with no problems. The AC comes on, but probably needs a refrigerant charge. My father had about $70K in this car to get it to this point.
